(Worthy News)—The Bible Society of Brazil (SBB) announced earlier this month that it celebrated printing 200 million Bibles and New Testaments, Christian Daily reports.

One of the main printers of Bibles in Latin America, the SBB has produced Bibles in 87 languages, including braille and indigenous languages, for export to 122 countries, CD reports. The society had printed 100 million Bibles by 2011 and celebrated the 200 million mark on November 7, 2024. Last year alone, the SBB distributed 152 million copies of the Bible worldwide.

In a statement to CD, Brazilian pastor and theologian Erni Walter Seibert explained: “If one Bible reaches only one person, 200 million copies will reach 200 million people.” However, noting that multiple people often read a single volume of the Bible, Seibert added: “One Bible reaches more than one person.”

CD reports that the SBB aims to serve as “a transformative agent in the life of each individual, promoting spiritual, cultural, and social development. ” The SBB additionally provides over 400,000 services to support some 350,000 vulnerable people, including children, prisoners, hospitalized patients, people with disabilities, and people battling addictions.

Moreover, the SBB emphasizes the Bible’s role in fostering peace amid conflict: In 2022, the SBB sent 100,000 New Testaments to Ukraine in an effort to bring the Gospel message of hope to Ukrainians facing Russia’s ongoing invasion.
