Illegal Immigrants Crossing the Border Surges Over Past 48 Hours

(Worthy News) – Over the past 48 hours, authorities have encountered close to 27,000 immigrants trying to cross into the United States from Mexico illegally, the Washington Examiner reported. In perspective, the number of crossings observed in the past two days is equivalent to the total typically seen over an entire month during the Obama and Trump administrations.

According to the United States Customs and Border Protection, their personnel encountered 14,509 illegal immigrants on Monday and an additional 12,242 on Tuesday, amounting to 26,751 over the first two days of this week.

“These are only the subjects that were imputed into the system,” said the CBP employee who provided the data told the Washington Examiner. “The numbers should be larger due to us only able to transport and input so many people a day. There’s no telling how many people are still waiting at the river.”

The border crisis, which commenced soon after President Joe Biden assumed office in January 2021, has led to an average of nearly 200,000 encounters per month, equating to an average of approximately 6,666 immigrant encounters each day.
