(Worthy News) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced intensified Israeli counterterror efforts after Thursday’s attempted bus bombings. The operation led to the detention of about 90 suspects and the confiscation of over 15 weapons.
Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz visited Tulkarm, directing the IDF to escalate operations in the West Bank and monitor terrorists released during the ceasefire.
In the Tulkarem refugee camp, Netanyahu stated, “will launch additional operational activity against terror centers” following bomb detonations on four buses.
“We have greatly increased our activity in the past year,” he said. “We are entering the terrorist strongholds, clearing entire streets used by terrorists, their homes. We are eliminating terrorists and commanders.”
Netanyahu also instructed the Israel Police and Shin Bet to “increase preventive activity in Israeli cities against further terrorist attacks.”
The bus explosions, which occurred in buses parked in Bat Yam, caused damage but no injuries.
A security source revealed that “explosive devices weighing between four and five kilograms were found, intended to detonate tomorrow morning and kill hundreds of civilians.”
Shin Bet, officially the Israel Security Agency and Israel’s internal security service responsible for counterterrorism, counterespionage, and security intelligence within Israel, is currently investigating the incident.
