Nigeria: Islamic terrorists murder and kidnap Christians in Kaduna state

(Worthy News) – Islamic terrorists in northern ’s Kaduna state have in recent weeks continued an onslaught of murderous attacks and kidnappings against local residents, Morning Star News reports.

In an attack on August 2, Islamic terrorists broke into the home of Daniel Yatai, an 86-year-old Christian lived in the Christian village of Manchok Kaduna state, MSN said. The terrorists shot Daniel dead and abducted his niece, 21-year-old Brenda Friday.

“The terrorists forcefully broke into their home as they were already sleeping, shot our dad, and kidnapped my niece,” Daniel’s son Philip Yatai told Morning Star News.

“They phoned us on Wednesday morning [Aug. 3] asking for a ransom of 15 million nairas [US$35,845] before my niece could be released.” Philip confirmed to MSN on August 5 that Brenda had been released but did not mention whether the ransom had been paid.

Amos Magbon, the rector of the Federal School of Statistics in Manchok, was also kidnapped on August 2 and was also released by August 5, MSN reports.

The attack on Manchok followed an attack on nearby Kasan Kogi village, in which Islamic militants abducted 21 Christian women from the local Evangelical Winning All (ECWA) church during a women’s fellowship meeting on June 21, MSN reports. The Rev. Ezra Shamaki was killed in this attack.

The Rev. Ezekiel Garba, pastor of Chapel of Good News Church in Kasan Kogi village, told Christian Solidarity International’s Nigeria Report that his wife was one of those abducted.

“They said they will marry off our women to their members if we don’t pay 100 million nairas (US$230,000) ransom within days,” Pastor Garba told Nigeria Report. “They said they will use them to produce children who will kill us in the future.”

Nigeria ranked number one in the world last year for the number of Christians murdered and kidnapped on account of their .
