(Worthy News) – A massive barrage of Israeli airstrikes hit Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon just after the terrorist group’s leader declared that two days of intense hybrid bombings, including the detonation of pagers and walkie-talkies targeting Hezbollah forces, amounted to a declaration of war.
Israeli airstrikes intensified on Thursday, surpassing previous days, as Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah acknowledged that the terror group had suffered a “major and unprecedented” blow earlier in the week when thousands of its communications devices, including pagers and walkie-talkies, were suddenly destroyed.
Despite this setback, Nasrallah vowed that Hezbollah would recover and continue its attacks on Israel, following months of cross-border fire. In a televised address, he condemned the attacks on their devices, calling them “an unprecedented massacre” and blaming Israel for the strikes.
“This criminal act is a major terrorist operation and amounts to a declaration of war,” Nasrallah stated.
Nasrallah vowed retaliation for the intelligence operation that killed at least 37 and injuring nearly 3,000 Hezbollah members.
The attack, one of the group’s worst security breaches, crippled their internal communications and shook confidence in the security of their networks.
“There is no doubt that we have been subjected to a major security and military blow that is unprecedented in the history of the resistance and unprecedented in the history of Lebanon,” Nasrallah stated in his speech.
Despite diplomatic efforts to prevent war, tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border have escalated, with intensified exchanges of fire and more aggressive Israeli operations. Israel faces pressure to secure its northern towns and enable evacuated residents to return, as tens of thousands have been displaced for nearly a year.
“The Hezbollah terrorist organization has turned southern Lebanon into a combat zone,” the Israeli military stated, adding that it is “operating to bring security to northern Israel, enable the return of residents to their homes, and achieve all of the war goals.”
Early today, Israel’s top military general, Herzi Halevi, approved battle plans for the northern front against Hezbollah.
