Saudi Arabia Cracks Down Anti-Israel Social Media Activity

(Worthy News) – While currently still an official enemy of Israel, Saudi Arabia has been arresting Saudis who took to social media to express solidarity with Hamas and incitement against the Jewish state, i24 News reports.

The Hamas Palestinian terror group triggered the current war with Israel in the Gaza Strip when it massacred 1,200 people, a majority of whom were Jewish civilians, and kidnapped around 250 more on Oct. 7 last year.

Analysts consider the unexpected crackdown by the Saudis to be based on an interest in advancing a diplomatic deal with the United States, which would include the normalization of relations with Israel, i24News reports.

“American officials have suggested that these Saudi actions are linked to broader negotiations between Riyadh and Washington,” i24News said in its reports. “The potential deal holds considerable significance, promising to bolster security for both Israel and Saudi Arabia while strengthening U.S. influence in the region.”

With normalization with Israel as a key element of it, a US-Saudi deal is expected to include Senate approval for the Saudis to have advanced American weapons and for commitments to restrict Chinese technology in sensitive areas, i24News said. Discussions have also reportedly included giving approval for Saudi Arabia to develop a civilian nuclear program.
